New Koha Image
The Koha image I created a few years ago continues to be popular. It is by far the biggest landing page on the site and every month one or two people send me a note saying that they are using it to try Koha on a Windows, Mac, or Linux system. I've heard from Buddhist monks, librarians in Europe, and teachers at different schools around the world. Consequently, I felt like it was time to update the image. The latest image now uses Debian Jessie and is running Koha 3.20. You can visit the install guide here: |
New Page - Math Ed Grad Degrees
I created a new page where I intend to post information about graduate degrees in mathematics education. I have been trying to do my own small part in helping the field attract more great candidates. If you are interested in a graduate degree in mathematics education and would like to learn more, please feel free to contact me. |
Updates to Materials for Researchers
I removed the page titled Materials for Researchers and instead created tabs linking the PME/PME-NA Proceedings and New Math Materials spreadsheets. These spreadsheets have also been embedded in the webpage rather than requiring the user to navigate to google docs. |

How-To Screencast for Koha
I created a short how-to screencast that explains the setup of the pre-made Koha image. I'm hopeful that this will help more people figure out how to use the image. |
Koha Image Updated to 3.14
I have updated the Koha image to version 3.14. I am also in the process of setting up a second image that will allow users more options in setting up the koha image. Specifically, it will allow users to walk through part of the install process themselves. I have recently discovered that it is not possible to switch from MARC21 to UNIMARC after the system has been installed. Thus, the second image make it possible for users to select UNIMARC rather than MARC21. Users will also be able to personalize other features of the system including the language. |
New Section: Minecraft
I have created a new section called Minecraft. I intend to use this section to discuss my own experience with the game as a player and server administrator. Additionally, I hope to discuss what I see as the potential for using Minecraft in teaching mathematics. Check it out and feel free to leave a comment if you are interested. http://joshhertel.com/minecraft |
